Welcome to the 4th UniNet Workshop 'New Directions of Network Modelling' Monday 9th June - Thursday 12th June 2008, Université René Descartes, 45 Rue de Saints-Peres, 75270 Paris, France This is the final meeting of the European network 'Unifying Networks for Science and Society'. The event is dedicated to review the results of UniNet that have been achieved over the 3 years of its lifetime, but we also like to look with even stronger emphasis into the future of the further development of a 'general network theory'. We will ask and discuss questions why network theories have suddenly become so popular, what are their successes, and what scientific achievements would make network theories even more applicable and realistic abstractions. Is there anyhow a chance to speak about a single network theory in future? In other words, what are the connections between the different theories in so many and very different areas of appications. We believe that addressing these issues will be illuminating and representative for the even broader field of 'complex systems' which is a novel and key concept for modern science in general. Registered participants are all welcome to present posters. Please send your poster title to: ulrichjanus@gmail.com |
